The sirens rang out and they followed Him!

Lord, I feel as if I am meant to do more.  You have blessed me with so many wonderful things.  Help me to use my gifts and talents to better the world around me.  Give me the strength to keep trying and never give up.  Help me to always do Your will.  Amen.

Matthew 4:18-22

As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen. He said to them, "Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men."
At once they left their nets and followed him. He walked along from there and saw two other brothers, James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in a boat, with their father Zebedee, mending their nets. He called them, and immediately they left their boat and their father and followed him.

Refection: I am amazed at the passage of scripture that is before us. Each time I am at the firehouse when the tonner is activated, the dispatcher comes on the air, everyone stops, what they do, they listen attentively and moves quickly. In each firefighter's head and heart, they know that someone is in need of help, someone in need of care! In many ways, the dispatcher's voice is the voice of Christ for others and the firefighters respond to whatever the need may be. Pray for our firefighters, they immediately leave whatever they are doing to help those in need. That is truly what a follower of Christ should be. Amen.
